Driver survives seven-storey plunge from Texas auto park

Fox affiliate, FOX 7 obtained video showing the moment a vehicle plunged off a Downtown Austin parking garage.

Cameras were rolling when a BMW plunged off an Austin parking deck, almost missing an SUV on the ground below.

The shocking thing is that there was an SUV, whose driver - as he told the local media - had open windows and heard a unusual noise. Moments later, a BMW falls from seven stories above.

CCTV shows the auto appearing from the air as it crashes to the ground and flips, just missing the vehicle below, before bystanders run to the driver's aid.

The police said the woman accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal and crashed through the parking garage barriers. The accident took place in July but the Austin Police Department released the dramatic and hard-to-believe CCTV footage only on Thursday that is August 10, 2017.

Bowmer revealed that she thought she was going to die after her crash, which put her in the hospital for two weeks.

This is not the first time that an incident like this has happened in the parking garage. APD said the woman's BMW went through the retention wires on the seventh floor of the Littlefield parking garage and hit the building across the alley as it fell, rupturing a gas line. That car's occupant managed to climb out of the vehicle to safety with the help of a bystander.
