Dive into the underwater world of Aquaman with these new pics!

While we wait for the first trailer from forthcoming DC movie Aquaman, we can now get our first look (via Entertainment Weekly) at who will be joining Jason Momoa's Atlantean hero in the aquatic blockbuster.

Despite the first Justice League film underperforming, there appears to be a sequel in some form of active development over at Warner Brothers.

Here's all you need to know about the film's trailer, release date, cast, plot and Black Manta, one of the movie's primary antagonists. The stills introduce Nicole Kidman has Queen Atlanna, bring back a more buff Jason Momoa as Aquaman and the stunning Amber Heard as Mera.

Among these pictures, one can discover an exclusive photo of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, which embodies the Black Manta, one of the villains that will be on the front of the stage in this film DC.

Aquaman director James Wan describes Black Manta as "part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some insane alien from outer space". Not pictured is Dolph Lundgren, who stars as King Nereus. Instead that role will be filled by Patrick Wilson's King Orm, also known in the comics as Ocean Master. "Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story, but our main story is about Jason [Momoa] and Patrick [Wilson]".

Wan told EW that the underwater world of his movie will set it apart from every other DCEU film. I mean, San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner (July, to be more specific), but you can never be too sure of when studios will give up the goods.

However, with the low numbers that last year's Justice League did, expectations for Aquaman may not be as high as expected.

Aquaman will be in theaters December 21, 2018.
