In response to the worries that Immortal was simply a reskin of otherNetEasegames, Adham stated that this is a game "purpose-built from the ground up", and all the art and assets were created exclusively for Diablo Immortal.
DiabloImmortal hasn't received the kind of fanfare that Blizzard had anticipated, with many people showering a lot of hate on the title, showcased by the cinematic trailer for the game which exceeded 400,000 dislikes versus close to 15,000 likes.
Sources claim that Blizzard recorded a video in which co-founder Allen Adham discussed "a newDiablo project", although no footage seems to have been involved - so it'd essentially have been just a name drop. Adham noted, "We have said that we have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple Diablo projects and that remains true, even after releasing [Diablo 3 for Nintendo] Switch and announcing Diablo: Immortal." .
In a note to investors, research firm Cowen & Company said "Blizzard severely miscalculated how their fans would respond, which suggests they aren't in touch with their players as maybe they should be". And it always will be. Of course, with the Reaper of Souls expansion we're of the opinion at AusGamers that Diablo 3 became one of the all-time great comeback stories. In Diablo Immortal, players will embark on thrilling expeditions, take part in dynamic events across unique public zones, and plunder instanced dungeons, hacking and slashing their way through the demonic minions surrounding them.
The analyst said the disappointing reaction made him less hopeful about the company's future mobile opportunities.
"[Diablo: Immortal] was created from the ground up - from the initial get-go [our intention] was to create that Diablo experience on mobile". Apparently, Diablo 4 is in development, but the team wasn't ready to commit to an announcement as the game has changed "drastically" over the past four years and may continue to evolve.
