Danai Gurira Reportedly Exiting 'The Walking Dead' In Season 10

Two of the stars that have departed, Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, will appearing in spin-offs of the show. "But we certainly would want her on the show as long as she wants to be on it", AMC Programming President David Madden told THR back in November. During her time on the show, her star as an actor and writer has risen immensely, thanks to a high-profile role in Black Panther and a Tony nomination in 2016 for her play Eclipsed. We still don't know much about those projects, but it appears she is not completely done with Michonne yet.

The exodus continues: Danai Gurira is leaving The Walking Dead.

I don't know how surprising this news is, really. She's definitely going to be in Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther 2, and she'll probably be a bunch of other major movies in the near future.

Fans of Michonne and her sword skills shouldn't despair just yet though, as Danai could be part of an upcoming Walking Dead film series.

AMC has not commented on her departure from the show yet.

Her return sees her working as a pirate fisherman for Oceanside, where she then reveals her intention to re-connect with her estranged partner King Ezekiel (let's remember that the comics and the TV show don't always go hand-in-hand when it comes to the narrative).

Gurira, who made a huge impression previous year playing Okoye in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, will be another major loss for the show, which remains one of the most-watched on cable despite the departures of Lincoln and other cast members.
