Crimson Tide ranked No. 1 in preseason Amway Coaches Poll

Four teams from the conference that face-planted during the most recent bowl season, going 3-7. This means that actual football will be here soon, but even though we still have a few weeks to wait, at least we have rankings. As USA Today reported, "Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th".

The rest of the top 10 was rounded out by Big Ten champion Penn State at No. 6, Pac-12 champion Washington at No. 7, Big 12 champion Oklahoma at No. 8, MI at No. 9 and Big Ten West victor Wisconsin at 10. K-State then hosts Charlotte on September 9 prior to traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, for a matchup against SEC foe Vanderbilt on September 16.

Despite the devastating loss, expectations clearly haven't changed for a Buckeyes program that's accumulated a 61-6 record in five seasons under Meyer. The Crimson Tide will open the season with Florida State, who checked at No. 3. With 1,257 points, Penn State is one spot ahead of Washington (1,245) and one behind defending national champion Clemson (1,367) in the rankings. Southern California Trojans 5.

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley runs a drill during NCAA college football practice on the outdoor fields at Lasch in State College, Pa., Monday, July 31, 2017. Only Oklahoma and Ohio State have streaks that long.

K-State hosts its annual Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 12. LSU's is likely the toughest, especially since they get an extra road game against the Florida Gators this year.
