Cops: Driver trying to swap seats causes crash that hurt 10

OH authorities are investigating a rollover crash that sent 10 Livingston County-area teens to the hospital.

A van full of Livingston County-area teens returning from Cedar Point flipped over, injuring all ten of them.

A 17-year-old girl from Howell, identified as Jenna L. Halonen, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Express when she attempted to switch seats with the passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Brighton, while the vehicle was still in motion, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 1:11 a.m. on I-75 near the Wales Road exit in Northwood.

According to media reports, the group was driving back to MI after a trip to the OH amusement park when the driver, Jenna L. Halonen, 17, of Howell, grew exhausted and tried to switch seats with Lilley Kastamo, 16. The van rolled over, ejecting two occupants: Lilly Kastamo and Ellie Kastamo, 16, both of Howell. While doing so, Ms. Halonen, lost control, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway and into the median.

Troopers say two people are in critical condition and one other person suffered serious injuries.

Lilly and Ellie Kastamo were also taken to St. Vincent's with critical injuries.

Ms. Halonen was wearing her safety belt at the time of crash and was transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent's Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries, the patrol said in a statement.

The crash is still under investigation.
