Browns kick off preseason against Giants

National Football League fans attending the New York Giants' preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night had the opportunity to place a legal wager on the game from inside the stadium. The very first play of Thursday night's preseason opener was a handoff to Barkley and with one quick burst the rookie running back showed what all the fuss is about.

And he almost equaled Barkley's 43 rushing yards, coming up with 39 of his own for an average of 7.8 yards per carry. In two drives, Taylor went 5-of-5 for 99 yards, including a 36-yard TD down the seam to TE David Njoku (more on him shortly), for a flawless passer rating (158.3).

Mayfield calmly stepped up in the pocket and delivered a low but catchable ball to WR C.J. Board over the middle for a fresh set of downs. The drive included conversions on third and long and fourth and two. Mayfield was much better against the second-teamers, hitting Njoku on a 10-yard scoring pass to give the Browns a 13-3 lead in the second quarter. After that, it was easy pickings for Njoku, who ran past Ogletree for an uncontested 36-yard touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor.

Mayfield returned in the third quarter to spin additional magic, rolling to his right on a third-and-7 from his own 22 to find rookie Antonio Callaway along the sideline for 24 yards.

The lucky NY Giants fan who gotBaker Mayfield's 1st-ever touchdown pass Thursday night - THREW IT BACK ON THE FIELD. and the whole thing is on video.
