Body pulled from plane wreckage formally identified as Emiliano Sala

The Welsh club have asked the Premier League to again wear commemorative shirts at Southampton on Saturday.

The UK's Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed on Thursday (AEDT) that a victim had been passed to the Dorset Coroner, having been recovered with the help of specialist contractors.

Her caption, which is written in Spanish, reads: "Your soul in my soul, it will shine forever, thus illuminating the time of my existence. I don't think Cardiff said we were not going to pay".

"We would like to thank you for all of your signs of affection and support in the most painful time of our life".

Emiliano Sala's body was identified by the Dorset coroner, but so far there has been no reported trace of that of the pilot David Ibbotson.

Leeds United have paid a touching tribute to Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala as his body is found. Subsequently AAIB and privately funded search teams were deployed to the relevant area.

Emiliano Sala will forever remain in the thoughts of Cardiff City, the club said, as his body was formally identified after being recovered from underwater wreckage in the English Channel.

'Forever in our hearts.

"I wish to express my deepest heartfelt condolences to the family of Emiliano Sala for their loss", said the club's owner Vincent Tan in a statement. "Our thoughts remain with them all", police said.

Cardiff FC and Southampton have announced that players will be wearing black armbands during their Premier League match on Saturday.

Both Southampton and Cardiff are expected to wear black armbands at St Mary's and a minute's silence will be observed before kick-off. This news puts an end to an endless and unsustainable waiting.

Flowers and tributes are placed near a giant picture of Emiliano Sala outside FC Nantes' training ground.

That is because, like many talented young footballers in Argentina, Sala left for Europe at such a young age.

The Argentine Football Association also expressed its condolences on Twitter.

"He was appreciated by everyone on and off the field", he said in a statement.

Efforts to retrieve the body were hampered by hard weather conditions but it was finally brought to Isle of Portland on Wednesday night and then ID'd as the former FC Nantes player.

Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney and Mesut Ozil also shared kind words of support for Sala's family.
