Billy Joe Saunders to give up his WBO title

Kautondokwa's stable-mate Julius Indongo landed a World title clash at late notice and starched Eduard Troyanovsky inside a round in Russian Federation to win the IBF Super-Lightweight crown to crash into the elite, going on to face Terence Crawford for all the titles at 140lbs - and #2-rated WBO Middleweight Kautondokwa believes he can make the same impact at 160lbs. Saunders, who attended the commission meeting via telephone and cursed at the commissioners following the ruling, was scheduled to make his fourth defense against mandatory challenger Demetrius Andrade on October 20 at TD Garden in Boston.

Boxing promoter Frank Warren says Billy Joe Saunders plans to sue the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission over his cancelled fight with Demetrius Andrade.

Saunders and Andrade contracted with VADA to oversee a testing program for their fight. VADA prohibits it at all times.

"Because of the mental anguish brought about by this case and out of respect for the WBO, Billy Joe will with a heavy heart relinquish his world title, whilst the issue is in the process of being resolved", the statement read. That means a fighter is in breach of the regulations only if it is found in their system on the day of a bout. "It is the simple facts and the truth", he said. It was for MSAC to then apply the WADA code to those results which they failed to do properly. Further the MSAC refused to properly consider submissions from Billy-Joe's representative despite him being present at the hearing.

The authorities in Boston used the stringent guidelines of the Voluntary Anti Doping Association - who carried out the test - instead of their regular practice of following the World Anti Doping Authority.

It's been a month to forget for Saunders, who was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control after a video emerged on social media of the 29-year-old jokingly offering a woman drugs, asking her to perform a sex act on his friend and ordering her to punch a passer-by.

"VADA bans everything. They are not recognized in Great Britain, they are not recognized by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and they are not recognized by the British Boxing Board of Control", Warren said regarding why Saunders was utilizing the nasal spray less than two weeks prior to fight night.

Valcarcel added that Saunders "probably will be suspended for six months". MSAC have simply got this wrong and cost Billy-Joe his opportunity to defend his title.
