There have many times in the last couple of years when Arsenal and Chile have fallen out after the South American team have lined up with Alexis Sanchez in the starting line-up, despite our club insisting that he shouldn't be risked.
The Gunners are now trying to keep Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium but despite publicly insisting that the Chilean will not leave in the summer, manager Arsene Wenger is having to identify possible replacements.
"I think the Confederations Cup is very important for Chile", he said. "His qualities on the field are incredible".
"The match really required us to do something to score a goal and he's the right player for that". And he is an awesome guy.
The 28-year-old is now with Chile at the Copa America and is expected to feature against Cameroon tonight.
Xhaka says that Sanchez, as well as Ozil, would be a good fit for any of Europe's top sides.
"I'm sure Wenger and Arsenal are willing to change things by putting money on the table to bring in players with a winning mentality", said Petit.
The German-speaking Xhaka quickly struck up a good relationship with Ozil after joining Arsenal last summer from Borussia Monchengladbach, and says that he expects to remain teammates with the playmaker.
"Of course, I hope that he won't [leave]", Xhaka added on Sanchez.
Bayern had appeared favourites to sign him, but the Chilean is demanding a package of £21.85 million-a-year from the Bundesliga champions, which would see him earn £420,000-a-week, as reported by the Mirror. "The relationship to him is obviously, due to the language, a bit closer".
