Barcelona to move for Man Utd target as potential alternative to Coutinho?

Inter winger Perisic has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford this summer but talk of a transfer away from the San Siro has quietened down recently.

La Blaugrana are now chasing top transfer targets Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, but if the Catalan giants are rebuffed in their advances for the pair, they could opt to turn their attentions to Perisic instead.

The Manchester Evening News reported last week that United were ready to renew their interest in the Croatian worldwide after seeing two previous bids rejected by Inter.

"The talk about Perisic is now finished", Spalletti told Premium Sport, as quoted by Football Italia.

"The more days that pass, the more hard it becomes for us to find a replacement of his calibre".

Mourinho had publicly criticised United's failure to sign players earlier this summer, regularly putting pressure on executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward who is tasked with leading United's negotiations in the transfer market.

The Catalan giants have made the player their number one priority as we head into the final three weeks of the window but with Liverpool continuing to play hardball over the price of their star midfielder, Sportitalia (via The Express) claims the Blaugrana may turn their attention to Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic. Mourinho admitted interest in Gareth Bale, and although that might not be the most realistic scenario, but it does seem to be the only Man United transfer rumor getting real traction right now. His addition would greatly improve the Red Devil's attack and complement striker Lukaku perfectly, who thrives on crosses into the box.
