Previous year the company delivered just 6,000 units in the region. Infiniti added that the move would have no impact on Infiniti's ongoing operations in Eastern Europe, Middle East and, Asia, which continue to grow. Sunderland made about 12,000 Infinitis past year, a sliver of its more than 442,000 total units produced.

Nissan launched its Infiniti line in 1989 looking to get a piece of luxury-car sales.
The early axing of the Q30 and QX30 from Sunderland, which were never big sellers but have been hit further by the drop in demand from diesel, would leave Infiniti with only the Q50 saloon as the sole model in its range.
"In the coming weeks Unite will be working closely with Nissan to protect jobs and ensure that redeployment is carried out in an open and transparent way".
Unite said it would be seeking assurances on future employment and was confident of securing redeployment opportunities for the 200 plus workers affected.
Infiniti has announced a restructuring plan that will focus the brand on its largest growth markets, which are North America and China. They are consulting with the representatives of its employees to determine appropriate support as they opportunities for the transition.
