Alcantara helps fire Bayern into Champions League last eight

Bayern Munich coasted into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 3-1 win over Besiktas in Istanbul to complete an 8-1 aggregate win.

French striker Jean-Kevin Augustin says hosts RB Leipzig are determined to prevent Bayern Munich being confirmed as Bundesliga champions for the sixth straight year as early as this Sunday.

"He said he felt a pain on the sole of his foot, but the first assessment is not that bad".

Thiago limped off before half-time, giving Bayern an injury concern for the rest of the season.

Gokhan Gonul own goal then extended Bayern's advantage early in the second half.

Besiktas improved and were rewarded when they pulled a goal back following a mistake in the Bayern defence, Love slotting into the bottom corner past Sven Ulreich for his first Champions League goal since 2011.

The German giants have made it into the quarter-finals for the last six seasons on the trot and it would take a miracle for the Turkish side to change that here.

They started stronger than Bayern but it was the visitors who had the first chance when David Alaba's free-kick was palmed low into the path of Thomas Muller, but he sliced over.

"The bookings were a bit annoying", admitted Mueller.

The Bavarians will be without Arjen Robben, who stayed in Munich with a minor injury, but have no plans to sit back and let Besiktas control the game.

Winger Ricardo Quaresma was Besiktas' most unsafe player in the first half with three chances, although none really troubled Sven Ulreich.

"Besiktas were undefeated at home so far and to not be that focused after a 5-0 win is human", he said.

"It is extremely important to play in a good atmosphere. The only negative is that we gave away too many yellow cards".
