In two separate emails addressed to Pandya and Rahul, copies of which are with CricketCountry, the two-member CoA has barred them from participating in any match or event that is authorised, organised, sanctioned, recognised or supported in any way by the BCCI, the ICC or any State Association till the time a final decision has been made. Apart from TV advertisements, Pandya has associations with brands such as Oppo, Gulf Oil, Sin Denim, DFY Sport and EUME on his social media as well, while Rahul endorses Curefit, Royal Stag, Puma and has been seen in a TVC for the Reserve Bank of India as well.
According to a statement by the BCCI, the two players will now return to India and face an inquiry for misconduct and indiscipline, initiated under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution. The episode has been removed from all the online platforms. Even though Pandya has apologized for his remarks, the BCCI is far from letting go of the issue, as the Committee of Administrators chief Vinod Rai on Thursday recommended a two-ODI ban on the players.
"We as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers do not support such views", Kohli said ahead of the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) here.
However, the skipper insisted that the dressing room morale won't be affected by the controversy after the historic high of a maiden Test series triumph in Australia. Acting secretary Choudhary wanted the pair suspended "immediately".
"Pandya has been in the team for how long to talk of the team culture in the manner he did", Harbhajan said.
"The BCCI did the right thing, and this is also the way forward". "After considering their reply, it was decided that the BCCI would proceed against both for misconduct and indiscipline", kit added. The legal team has suggested that the CoA, as the authorised head of the BCCI now, could substitute for the Apex Council.
Isha also raised questions about the cause and her show, expressing her anger. Their names are still present on the show's official description on Hotstar though.
Gavaskar said that whatever happened on the show was uncalled for and unwanted but Dhoni, with his calm and cool presence, will bring back the lost control among the players.
