Adventurous OnePlus 5T owners can try Android Oreo

This comes following Android 8.0 Oreo rollout for OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 in November and for OnePlus 5 late last month.

OnePlus really didn't waste any time fulfilling its promise of bringing the 5T's Face Unlock feature to the original 5. OnePlus 5T owners can now download the "Oreo" beta for their devices with the latest security patch dated December 1. Other features that came with the update are a new camera UI, a new beauty effect for Portrait Mode and enhanced optimizations for Wi-Fi and BatterySaver. Owing to this, the company had promised speedy updates to their devices.

It should be noted that the Face Unlock feature is not as secured as the Apple's Face ID feature nor does it use any depth sensing or iris scanning technology. "You all inspired us to bring Face Unlock to the OnePlus 5".

If we talk about the new updated launcher on the OnePlus 5T smartphone, you will be able to optimise the app shortcut style on the device. But, as fate would have it, the software was riddled with bugs affecting the performance of the device.

In either event, if you were waiting for Oreo to land on your OnePlus 5, here it is. Along with the update, you'll be getting the new Smart Text Selection feature that Google introduced, and the same goes for the New Quick Settings design. After that, the now rolling Oxygen OS 5.0.1 is the first major update fixing various bugs. Going by OnePlus' nature, this bug might be a critical one. "We can not guarantee results on rooted devices", said the company on its website. For more updates, stay tuned with us!
