So when the adoption went through last Monday, Tannah's mom let Jackie Alexander break the happy news.
'They are just caring, loving, they take really good care of me, ' said Tannah.
'It's been hard to watch them fight this emotional battle.
"Although I knew she would be happy to hear the news, I didn't expect her to react the way she did. I just kissed her up one side and down the other side".
"I'm looking forward to having family time and spending all our lives together", said Butterfield.
Jackie Alexander, office manager at American Heritage, said the moment was "pure testament that in a world full of turmoil and strife, there is still light and joy to be found in little everyday moments".
Tannah's joy is apparent in the video, where she leaps into Alexander's arms, kicking her legs up and down.
After two years of anticipation, Tannah's dream was finally answered after a judge approved adoption requests for her and her two younger siblings, reported KUTV.
Tannah's soon-to-be mom is grateful for the video. My love has grown for this family and I have learned so much from them as they have tried to remain positive despite many set backs'.
'In 12 years at this job, this is by far my best moment ever, ' Alexander wrote. To tell a little girl that she gets her family forever takes the cake.
The parents were shocked at the reaction to the video. "It's not something I get to do every day". "My husband and I had a lot of infertility problems and we had wanted more", she said, continuing, "This kind of fell on our lap".
A girl's heart-warming reaction to finding out she is going to be adopted has been shared around the world.
