A sing-along screening of Bohemian Rhapsody is coming to Bury

The film also took home the Globe for best film drama, beating the likes of Black Panther, If Beale Street Could Talk, BlacKkKlansman and A Star is Born (2018).

Bryan Singer, who was sacked as a director on "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the middle of the making, posted a thank you message after the film bagged two awards at the Golden Globes.

Despite being heavily tipped and nominated for five prizes, A Star Is Born took home just one award - best original song for Shallow.

Turning heads is no effort for Rami Malek, since his award winning performance in Bohemian Rhapsody as Freddie Mercury, but each time he sets foot on a red carpet (and our heads turn at breakneck speed) we stare a little longer.

He said: 'Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me the joy of a lifetime.

The film is still enjoying its victory lap in the theaters after gaining incredible momentum from these Golden Globe wins. Allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced shortly after Singer's firing, and neither Malek nor producer Graham King mentioned Singer during their Golden Globes acceptance speeches. "This is for you, gorgeous".

The director was sacked from the Freddie Mercury biopic in December 2017 a couple of weeks before filming wrapped, amid rumoured tension with Malek, 37, and other members of the cast.

Tears and astonishment marked the winners podium as Glenn Close for "The Wife" beat front-runner Lady Gaga as best drama actress, and "Green Book" triumphed over more high profile comedies "Vice" and "The Favourite". It follows singer Freddie Mercury's life from his joining the band in 1970, to their Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in 1985. Esquire magazine reportedly planned an exposé on Singer timed to the release of Bohemian Rhapsody but it never materialized.

'So I thought I could easily go up and say hi but in the moment like that... very awkward.

Civil rights dramedy "Green Book" was the numerical victor - if not the prestige player - picking up awards for best comedy movie, best supporting actor Mahershala Ali and best screenplay.
