5 reasons James Franklin isn't a good fit for the Aggies

The free event presented by Penn State Lehigh Valley and ArtsQuest starts at 3 p.m. and includes the big game shown live on the Levitt Pavilion's large outdoor television screen. The first of likely more such stories has emerged.

Per CBS Sports, Penn State is preparing for Texas A&M to make a run at James Franklin this offseason if the Aggies fire current coach Kevin Sumlin.

A Penn State spokesman has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Yes, Sumlin still has his job at the moment, but the pressure continues to mount for the A&M leader.

It sounds like Franklin is happy with the Nittany Lions, and why wouldn't he be? During the summer, Franklin signed a 3-year extension worth nearly $20 million.

The senior put down a career-high 20 kills on a clip of.500, while adding eight blocks, one solo, and two digs in the Nittany Lions gritty win over Ohio State.

But there is far more reason to believe Franklin would simply use A&M as a bargaining chip to force Penn State into giving him another raise. In it, he reminded people that he's from Pennsylvania, has the No. 3-ranked team in the country and has the No. 3-ranked recruiting class in 2018.

"My family and I are very thankful to be a part of the Penn State community", Franklin said in a written statement after the contract announcement.

He does lack some of the luster he once had.

If Texas A&M decides to make a coaching change, the Aggies could be looking at bringing in a former SEC coach, according to a report.
